According to the characteristics of lead-acid batteries, we carry out research on lead-acid battery activation technology, focusing on the series activation technology of lead-acid batteries with poor consistency.

Charge and discharge technology is indispensable in the activation of lead-acid batteries, and there are serious consistency problems in decommissioned lead-acid batteries.
Lead–acid batteries exist in a large variety of designs and sizes. There are vented or valve regulated batteries. Products are ranging from small sealed batteries with about 5 Ah (e.g., used for motor cycles) to large vented industrial battery systems for traction purposes with up to 500 Ah.
The process is the same for all types of lead-acid batteries: flooded, gel and AGM. The actions that take place during discharge are the reverse of those that occur during charge. The discharged material on both plates is lead sulfate (PbSO4). When a charging voltage is applied, charge flow occurs.

Personally, I always make sure that anything connected to a lead acid battery is properly fused. The common rule of thumb is that a lead acid battery should not be discharged below 50% of capacity, or ideally not beyond 70% of capacity. This is because lead acid batteries age / wear out faster if you deep discharge them.
It's best to immediately charge a lead acid battery after a (partial) discharge to keep them from quickly deteriorating. A battery that is in a discharged state for a long time (many months) will probably never recover or ever be usable again even if it was new and/or hasn't been used much.
A deep-cycle lead acid battery should be able to maintain a cycle life of more than 1,000 even at DOD over 50%.
